Emily Prince
Emily Prince is an Associate Solicitor at Amphlett Lissimore, specialising on financial work in the context of family law. She has built a network over the years that enables her to work with many lawyers from different jurisdictions. She has often come across disputes where pets are weaponised and, unfortunately, this is the case especially in the English jurisdiction, due to the lack of legislation to protect our beloved pets. Emily is a pet lover, having had dogs all her life. She joined the Working Group at the outset, managing relationships with supporters, for example the RSPCA, and the Group’s LinkedIn Page.
She is a firm believer of the fact that the UK is lagging behind many parts of the rest of the world including Spain, Australia, parts of Canada and the USA, Argentina and Colombia. The Group has also found that HK, Singapore and South Korea are all currently developing legislative changes regarding the treatment of pets on separation or divorce.
The Working Group has a number of people in the committee including the Kennel Club, a recently retired Family High Court Judge Sir Nicholas Mostyn, Dr Marc Abraham OBE, various barristers and solicitors and some overseas lawyers from jurisdictions where this type of change has already been brought into effect. The working group was also mentioned and praised in the House of Lords by Baroness Berridge and has been frequently discussed in recent podcasts and seminars for lawyers dealing with such an important matter.
