New year's eve party with the kids?
On New Year's Eve most children get stuck with a babysitter, but you can have a party that both you and your children can enjoy even if the kids don't make it to midnight. You may choose to keep your event to the immediate family or you may want to invite extended family and friends.
The activities you plan should be based on the age of the children attending the event.
However, there are a few things that you can do that children of any age may enjoy:
- Decorate the house, spend time with your children putting up decor to ensure that you have a festive environment. You can do a lot on a small budget with balloons, streamers, confetti and more.
- Costumes, kids of any age like to dress up. Pick up some inexpensive masks or party hats for the party goers to decorate.
- Party supplies, Fill small party bags with confetti, silly string, glow sticks, party horns and other noisemakers. When it is time to ring in the New Year, have the kids gather outside and let them make noise and celebrate in style.
- Party games, this will depend on the age of the children, can range from pin the tail on the donkey to charades. Just do a quick Internet search and you fill a ton of ideas.
- Sending out or delivering homemade invitations helps your kids feel more excited about their party.
- Fun party food, pick something easy to make that will be fun for everyone to participate in like bagel pizzas.
- Set up the area with kid-safe DVDs (Monster's Inc., The Incredibles, etc.), games, and interactive toys. Have lots of pillows and blankets for sleepy kids.
