It is always up to you.

Make 2010 the year for family.

Every year people setup resolutions to help improve themselves.  Let's make 2010 the year that we return to family.  It is very easy to forget how important and amazing a family can be, but, like anything, you will get out what you put in.

"Girls Night Out" or "Guys Night" have always been popular, but how about bringing back "Family Night".   Try to set aside a night that you can spend with your loved ones to do something, also try to do something that doesn't involve the TV.   It may be a card tournament or a board game or maybe its skiing or ice skating, but get involved in something with your family.  Maybe even get the extended family involved.

If the weather is nice, go to a park or local farm.  Give your kids a chance to experience the outdoors.  Even if it is cold outside, there is plenty to do.  By being active, even in the cold, you are setting an example that will stay with your kids their entire life.

There was a time not that long ago where we didn't have internet connections and endless channels of cable.  Rather than looking to technology to replace quality family or parenting time, find ways to let technology enhance it.  Use the internet as a tool to come up with ideas for things to do and places to go with your family.  From tinkering with electronics to knitting, you can use the internet to find projects that appropriate for your child at whatever age.
